WP7: Advanced superconducting technologies for particle accelerators

WP 7 is dedicated to the construction and installation of the Mu2e Transport Solenoid. ASG Superconductors in Italy is building the modules under a Fermilab contract with the collaboration and supervision of INFN personnel.
The collaboration between Fermilab and INFN will continue on the project of a 16 T Nb3Sn accelerator dipole. INFN focus will be mainly on the dipole mechanical design. Fermilab and Polytechnic of Milano will optimize state-of-the-art electrochemical techniques for Nb3Sn thin layer deposition on Nb and Cu to build superconducting Nb3Sn wires and radio-frequency cavities.
