WP3: Gravitational waves detectors

We will contribute to the development of new hardware systems to improve the physics reach of the advanced and future gravitational wave interferometers. These include new seismic noise attenuation systems for cryogenic interferometers, a network of accelerometers and tilt-meters to estimate the effect of the noise due to the gravity gradient, quantum squeezing techniques to decrease the effect of quantum noise, new silica and sapphire fibers for monolithic suspensions, and new control techniques and noise cancellation filters.
